Once there are more than seven of you, transport becomes a different question. Two petits taxis are no longer enough, three hire cars become unmanageable, and every journey turns into a logistics puzzle. The simplest solution in Morocco is a minibus with driver, usually a 16-seat Mercedes Sprinter, booked for the group and available for transfers, excursions and evenings out. Weddings, corporate trips, birthdays, hen and stag parties, trips with friends or family reunions: here is how we organise these journeys and what to plan for.
Which vehicle for how many people
| Group size | Recommended vehicle | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 4 to 7 people | Mercedes Vito | Room for everyone’s luggage |
| 8 to 16 people | Mercedes Sprinter | The most common group format |
| 17 people or more | Several vehicles | Coordinated by a single contact |
This table assumes passengers with travel luggage. For a short evening ride without suitcases, the real capacity is a little more comfortable. Conversely, with golf bags, surfboards or event equipment, plan an extra vehicle.
When a minibus changes everything
Airport arrivals. Members of a group rarely land on the same flight. We organise successive shuttles or a common meeting time, with a driver waiting in the arrivals hall holding the group or event name, and tracking each flight.
Weddings and events. Shuttles between the hotel and the venue, often in the Palmeraie or on the Ourika road, and the ride back in the early hours: this is where a dedicated driver is worth his weight in gold. Nobody drives after the party, nobody hunts for a taxi at 2 am.
Corporate trips. Punctuality, clean and recent vehicles, a precise schedule and a single contact to deal with the unexpected.
Group excursions. A day in Agafay, the Atlas or Essaouira becomes much simpler when everyone travels together. The price per person also drops sharply: with fourteen people in a Sprinter, the transport for an excursion often costs less per head than a shared tour.
How the organisation works
- You send us the programme, even a rough one: dates, number of participants, flights, hotels, events, possible excursions.
- We propose a transport plan with vehicles, timings and a fixed price per journey or per day.
- A WhatsApp group is set up with your contact and our team for any adjustments during the stay.
- On the day, drivers have the passenger list, addresses and timings, and let you know if anything runs late.
What to plan for
- Realistic timings. A group takes longer than a couple to board a vehicle or get out of a hotel or restaurant. Allow fifteen minutes’ margin at each departure.
- Medina riads. A Sprinter cannot enter the medina and parks even further away than a car. Agree a clear meeting point and arrange porters for the luggage.
- Late nights. For a wedding or a party, give the likely finishing time: we can organise several returns if part of the group wants to leave earlier.
- Booking ahead. Sprinters are in high demand in spring, October and at the end of the year, and during major events in Marrakech. Book as soon as your dates are fixed.
Example: a 60-guest wedding in Marrakech
Here is how transport is typically organised for a wedding of this size, with guests staying in three hotels and a reception in the Palmeraie:
- Arrivals, spread over two days: one Sprinter runs shuttles from the airport as the flights land, with a driver holding the couple’s name in the arrivals hall.
- On the day, four Sprinters collect guests from the three hotels at times staggered by ten minutes, so that everyone arrives at the ceremony together.
- Returns run in several rotations, for example around 11 pm, 1 am and 3 am, so that everyone can leave when they want.
- The next day, an outing to Agafay or a brunch, then the airport departures.
One contact person on the couple’s side, a shared schedule and a message group are enough to make it all work.
The price of group transport
The rate depends on the vehicle, the distance and how long it is needed. It is calculated per vehicle, not per person: the fuller the minibus, the lower the cost per participant. For an event lasting several days, we draw up an overall quote covering arrival, shuttles, excursions and departure, with no online payment.
Group journeys between cities
A group trip linking Marrakech with Essaouira, Agadir or Taghazout works very well in a Sprinter, with a break halfway and luggage in the back. Journey times are the same as by car: about three hours to the coast. You will find driving times in our table of distances in southern Morocco, and the Marrakech to Essaouira and Marrakech to Agadir pages describe these journeys.
One last piece of advice
For groups, the biggest risk is not the road, it is coordination. A written programme, one contact person, a message group and timings with some slack sort out almost everything. The rest is our job.
