Marrakech and Agadir have become two of Europeans’ favourite winter golf destinations: near-guaranteed sunshine from November to March, courses laid out among palm trees or facing the ocean, and direct flights from most major cities. Transport, on the other hand, is often underestimated. With golf bags, early tee times and courses scattered around the cities, poorly organised transport can cost you missed tee times and a lot of energy. Here is how we organise our golfing clients’ journeys, from the airport to the last hole.

Courses around Marrakech

Marrakech has around ten courses. Among the best known are the Royal Golf de Marrakech, the oldest, Amelkis, Palmeraie Golf, Al Maaden, Assoufid, Samanah, Noria and the Fairmont Royal Palm course. Most are in the Palmeraie or on the southern outskirts of the city, 15 to 40 minutes from the centre depending on the course and traffic. Some, further out on the Atlas road, take a little longer.

The key point for planning: these courses are not grouped together. Playing three different courses on three days means three different routes, each with an early start.

Courses around Agadir

In Agadir, courses are concentrated along the coast and on the outskirts: Golf du Soleil, Golf de l’Océan and the Dunes course, plus Tazegzout in the Taghazout Bay resort, overlooking the Atlantic. Journeys are generally shorter than in Marrakech, and golf in the morning with the beach or surfing in the afternoon is one of the region’s strengths.

How many golfers per vehicle?

This is the question we hear most, and the answer depends as much on the bags as on the people.

GroupRecommended vehicle
1 to 2 golfers with bags and suitcasesPremium SUV
3 to 4 golfers with bags and suitcasesMercedes Vito
5 to 8 golfersVito for daily runs without suitcases, Sprinter for the airport
More than 8 golfersMercedes Sprinter or several vehicles

On arrival and departure, with suitcases as well as golf bags, always plan one size up. For daily runs to the courses without luggage, capacity is more comfortable.

Arriving at the airport with golf bags

This is the longest moment of the trip. Golf bags usually arrive on the oversized baggage belt, often after the suitcases, and you may have to wait an extra twenty minutes. Your driver tracks your flight and is not worried by the delay: take the time to collect every bag, check that none has been damaged and, if necessary, file a report at the airline desk before you come out. Loading then starts with the hard cases, followed by the suitcases. For a group, tell us if the golfers are arriving on several flights: we organise several runs rather than making everyone wait.

A typical golf day, transport-wise

  1. Leave the hotel about 45 minutes to an hour before your tee time, to allow for check-in and warming up.
  2. Drop-off at the clubhouse with your bags.
  3. Pick-up at the agreed time: the driver comes back for you at the end of the round, or waits on site if the course is far away.
  4. Afternoon options: lunch in town, the medina, a spa, or a second round for the keenest.

For a stay of several days with a different course each morning, hiring a driver is often the simplest option: one driver, one vehicle and a schedule agreed with you the evening before.

When to go on a golf trip

  • November to March: peak golf season, with mild sunny days; morning tee times are cool in Marrakech.
  • October and April: excellent, warmer and often slightly less in demand.
  • Summer: possible in Agadir thanks to the ocean breeze; in Marrakech only very early tee times are pleasant.

Marrakech and Agadir on the same trip

Many groups combine a few days of golf in Marrakech with a few days in Agadir. The drive between the two cities takes about three hours on the motorway; with golf bags, a private Marrakech to Agadir transfer avoids the luggage limits of coaches. You can even fly into Marrakech and out of Agadir to avoid driving the same road twice.

What we do, and what we do not

We handle the transport: airport welcome with your bags, shuttles to the courses, journeys between cities and evenings out. Tee times and green fees are usually booked through your hotel or directly with the clubs; we simply fit our timings around your tee times. For your arrival, see our Marrakech airport transfers and Agadir airport transfers, and for larger groups our guide to the minibus with driver.
